3386 CFVs reported in J&K in first 8 months of 2020

Srinagar, Nov 24: As many as 3386 incidents of ceasefire violations have taken place along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) in Jammu & Kashmir in the first eight months of 2020.

In its response to an application under Right to Information Act-2005, the Ministry of Home Affairs has revealed that 3386 incidents of CFVs have taken place in Jammu & Kashmir from January to August this year.

According to documents in possession of news agency—Kashmir News Observer, 394 CFVs have been reported in January, 389 in February, 454 in March, 412 in April,398 in May, 423 in June, 482 in July and 434 in August.

The data reveals that 3479 incidents of CFVs have taken place in J&K in 2019.

Of these incidents, 216 were reported in January, 251 in February, 275 in March, 240 in April,238 in May, 190 in June, 314 in July, 323 in August, 308 in September, 398 in October, 333 in November and 393 in December.

In 2018, 2140 CFVs were reported in J&K. According to data, 408 such incidents were reported in January,225 in February, 203 in March, 177 in April, 351 in May, 58 in June, 13 July, 44 in August, 112 in September, 183 in October, 188 in November and 178 in December.

It is worthwhile to mention that 10 persons including four forces personnel were killed in multiple ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control (LoC) from Gurez to Uri sectors of Jammu & Kashmir earlier this month.
