Blind Hit & Run case solved, accused arrested in Akhnoor: Police

Jammu, Jan 23 : Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday claimed to have solved blind hit and run case by arresting an accused involved in the act in Akhnoor area of Jammu district.

Police spokesman in a statement said that an information was received at Police Station Akhnoor from reliable sources that one pedestrian namely Babu Ram, son of Munsi Ram of Ram Nagar was hit by an unknown vehicle at Palwan camp.

“The victim was shifted to SDH Akhnoor for treatment and further referred to GMC Jammu where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver had fled away from the spot along with the vehicle,” police said.

Police said that a case under FIR number 16/2021 under section 279, 337, 304A IPC was registered at Police Station Akhnoor in this regard.

“A special police team of Akhnoor Police station was constituted under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Varun Jandial. The team led by SHO Ravi Singh Parihar after strenuous efforts and with the help of CCTV camera footage of different locations and thorough questioning of shopkeepers, local residents of the surrounding areas, arrested the accused driver Davinder Kumar, son of Nand Lal, 22, of Khadwani (Pangairi) Tehsil Akhnoor,” police said.

The Tata mobile bearing registration number JK02AH-3196, which was involved in the instant case was also recovered and seized, police said, adding that further investigation of the case is going on.
