Jammu, Dec 03 : Jammu Police in RS Pura claimed to have solved a blind murder case on Thursday by arresting the accused involved in the crime.

Police said that the blind murder case of an ex—serviceman Bodh Raj, son of Jagan Nath of RS Pura was solved and it arrested his close associate Mohinder Kumar @Kuk, son of Buti Ram of Suchetgarh in RS Pura who also happen to be an Ex-serviceman.

“Police recovered the dead body of Bodh Raj under mysterious circumstances from underneath a bridge a few days back after he was murdered by Mohinder one day prior. Subsequently an inquest proceeding under section 174 CRPC was initiated,” police said in a statement issued to press.

Police spokesman said that during inquest proceedings, some visible evidences was analyzed and a special team supervised by SDPO RS Pura Shabir Khan was constituted. The team headed by SHO RS Pura, Jai Pal Sharma expanded the dynamics of the investigation, the statement said.

“After hectic efforts and taking a blend of technical and human intelligence, Police fixed the investigation radar on Mohinder Kumar who was a close friend of the deceased. After questioning, the accused accepted the crime and divulged the details and sequence of events,” police said.

It is pertinent to mention that both Bod Raj and Mohinder were close friends and previously worked together a few years back at different levels of postings in paramilitary forces.

Bod Raj used to visit Mohinder at his home regularly and were sharing close inter family relations. Mohinder took three lac rupees on credit from Bod Raj in 2019 and was unable to pay back to him.

Due to inability to pay back the credit he got from Bod Raj, Mohinder took him in his car in darkness of the night on pretext that he will drop Bod Raj to some relative’s home, the statement said.

“In mid way, Mohinder made Bod Raj to drink liquor and squeezed his neck thereby throttling him to death. After committing the crime Mohinder transported the dead body to a far off place and dumped it underneath a bridge,” it added.

After the disclosure of the accused and linkage of various evidences, Police converted the inquest proceedings under section 174 CRPC into FIR number 225/2020 under section 302 IPC at Police Station RS Pura and further investigation is set into motion, the statement said—(KNO)
