ANANTNAG, SEP 12(SNN): The entire system of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is remaining collapsed in major parts of South Kashmir causing inconvenience to the subscribers.
Since August last year there is poor connectivity, frequent call drops and low internet speed of the BSNL which resulted into resentment among the subscribers of the State owned company. The intensity of problem can be gauged from the fact that the subscribers even finding it difficult to approach the officers of the BSNL to ascertain the reason behind the problem.
What to talk of cellular phones even the landline services are hit hard due to the lazy approach of BSNL employees. The hardship faced by the subscribers of BSNL made them to plan about shifting to other cellular service providers, whose network is far better than the State-owned company.
This was not for the first time that BSNL subscribers had to face such a problem as frequent breakdown in the network of State owned company has become a routine in Jammu and Kashmir.
A BSNL subscriber Amir Ali, a businessman, who conducts his business over his mobile phone, said that during the last many months frequent call drops and low internet connectivity has affected his business adversely.
“I have to line up important meetings on the landline as the mobile network just cannot be trusted for crucial work but sometimes landlines too remain non-functional”, Amir claimed.
Zulfi Masood, a BSNL subscriber from Bijbehara Anantnag said every time his mobile phone rings, he runs outside the house to pick the call. “Regular call drops, distortion in voice and slow internet speed have become a routine for the BSNL network”, he further said, adding “the problem becomes worse during adverse weather conditions”.
A BSNL official on the condition of anonymity told News Agency—SNN that due to lack of men and technology, BSNL is not able to take the load. “We need to improve our system to provide uninterrupted services to the subscribers”, he added.
On the other hand, private players have been providing interruption-free services resulting in a huge loss to BSNL as many of its (BSNL) subscribers are shifting to private players.
“The worst sufferers are the internet users as broadband services remain out of order most of the times, hampering the work, especially in the offices and banks”, said Rameez, who runs internet café in Cheeni Chowk area of Anantnag—SNN
