Anantnag, Nov 3:Forest Department in a massive anti-encroachment drive on Tuesday freed over one-hundred twenty kanals of encroached upon land here in Lidroo forest area of Pahalgam in this south-Kashmir district.
An official part of the anti-encroachment drive team told SNN that “A massive anti-encroachment drive was carried by the Forest Department under the supervision of Range Officer Pahalgam Haji Altaf alongside his staff on the directions of DFO Lidder in the local forest area.”
The drive that, as per the official, was conducted in forest compartment numbers 29bL, 31L and 32L concluded at about 4:30 in the evening, during which more than 120 kanals of forest land, possessing around 200 walnut and willow trees, was freed from the clutches of illegal possession of few local persons.
Two make-shift structures were also demolished during the drive, the official added.
