India is all set to become the second country after the United States to cross the six million Covid-19 case mark even as the number of new infections per day has relatively fallen over the last few days. Also, nearly as many new recoveries are being reported each day as number of new positive cases.

As of Sunday, India’s Covid-19 tally stood at more than 5.9 million, just short of the six million mark, as per the Union health ministry’s dashboard. Also, the number of deaths due to the disease is slowly inching towards the one lakh mark.

Globally, the number of deaths has crossed one million mark in a caseload of 33.3 million, a worldometers data shows. United States, India, Brazil and Russia continue to be the four worst-affected countries while Colombia has overtaken fellow Latin American country Peru to be the fifth worst-hit. Spain, Mexico, Argentina and South Africa complete the list of the ten worst-hit countries.

With 82,170 new Covid-19 cases, India goes past six million mark

India records 82,170 new Covid-19 cases, taking its tally past six million mark to 6,074,702., Union health ministry’s data shows. With 74,893 new recoveries, total recoveries go past five million mark to 5,016,520. Death toll reaches 95,542 with 1,039 new fatalities while active cases at 962,640.
