The UT Administration is planning to seek audit reports from private schools to verify the complaints regarding non-payment of “genuine wages” to schoolteachers during the lockdown period.

It will seek audit reports of fee structure, number of students enrolled and salaries paid to private teachers from August 2019 till date.

This was disclosed by Principal Secretary Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon through his Twitter handle.

“Frequent complaints pouring in about non-payment of genuine wages to private school teachers, termination of their services by management without notice despite pandemic; Govt may seek audit reports of fee structure, students on roll, salaries paid from August 2019 till date,” Samoon said.

There had been widespread complaints that the private schools not only terminated their teachers without notice, but also not paid them their salaries for the lockdown period, though they collected monthly tuition fee from students.
