Bandipora, Oct 22 : Police on Thursday claimed to have solved a murder case of a sarpanch who was found hanged at his home in Zurimanz village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district last week.

An official told KNO that police have arrested two persons including wife of the deceased sarpanch as they have been found involved in this case.

He said that on the 12 October police-post Aloosa received an information that one person namely Javid Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Ahad Dar, a resident of Zurimanz aged about 35 years has committed suicide at his home by hanging himself.

“Taking cognizance of the case proceedings under section 174 /CRPC were initiated and also for finding the real facts, an SIT under the supervision of SSP Bandipora, Rahul Malik was constituted. The SIT was headed by DySP Hqrs Bandipora. During the course of the investigation and from spot visit of SIT, it surfaced that the case looks more of a murder than suicide,” the official said.

He said that during the course of investigation many suspects were brought for questioning and during that process it came to light that wife of the deceased along with another person identified as Shahzad Ahamd Dar, who were in an extra-marital affair with each other, administered some sedative drugs to deceased and strangulated him to death.

The official said that consequently a case FIR No. 116/2020 under section 302 IPC was registered in police station Bandipora and further investigation was taken up.

“Both persons have admitted their crime and have been arrested. Further investigation is going on,” the official said.
