Shopian Gunfight: Two militants killed, operation continues

Srinagar, November 10: Two militants were killed in an ongoing gunfight in Katpora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday.

A senior police officer told that two militants have been killed in an encounter, however the identity of the slain militants couldn’t be ascertained yet.

The police officer further said that this group was responsible for looting JK Bank recently in shopian with 60 lacs.

They were also offered with chance of surrender earlier however they refused to do so, the officer said.

Meanwhile operation is still under progress in the area.

Earlier, Reports said that a joint team of Police, army’s 34RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Katopra.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off an gunfight.GNS
